Here & Now - My Grandmother is Dreamer - Art Exhibition Australia

EN | I am so happy to be part of this incredible art exhibition at Hota. It is such a joy to have my work recognized and selected for such an incredible art exhibition, and more than being able to say that my work was chosen, I am also able to say that the story of my grandmother, Iracilda, was chosen.

As the oldest granddaughter, I feel inexplicably happy to honour our matriarch in this very special way. My grandmother has a life story full of difficulties, she has been through a lot in this life - and with all her faith, resilience, creativity, hope and sagacity, she has always made her way through life with a heart full of love and hope for a better life. My grandmother has always told me many of her stories, and I feel special every time I sit down having a coffee in the kitchen or on our video calls, she tells me another one - and she keeps sharing them, because this fortress in the form of a person remains strong, full of faith and with a sense of humor that I deeply love. On my last trip to Brazil - hearing more of her stories - I had a momentum - I came back from vacation with a fire in my heart telling me that I had to do something about her stories. And, I did not know exactly what that would be back then, and looking back at this genuine experience and having part of her story depicted in my illustration now installed in this exhibition is priceless. I will keep this in my memory for the rest of my life and I will tell this story to my grandchildren in a few decades.

The Here & Now exhibition is open to the public until February 16, 2025 at Gallery 1 - from 10 am to 4 pm every day, free entry. I invite everyone who is in the Gold Coast to go and check it out - the exhibition is wonderful with works by beautiful 42 local artists. Art Exhibition Australia.

PT: Muito feliz em fazer parte desta exposição de arte tão incrível no Hota. Alegria imensa ter meu trabalho reconhecido e selecionado para uma exposição de arte tão especial, e mais do que poder dizer que meu trabalho foi escolhido é também poder dizer que a história da minha avó, Iracilda, foi escolhida.

Como a neta mulher mais velha, me sinto inexplicavelmente feliz em homenagear a nossa matriarca desta forma tão especial. Minha vó tem uma história de vida de muitas dificuldades, ela já passou por muita coisa nesta vida - e com toda sua fé, resiliência, criatividade, esperança e sagacidade, ela sempre fez suas travessias pela vida com o coração cheio de amor e esperança pela vida. Minha vó sempre me contou muitas das suas histórias, e me sinto especial todas as vezes que sentadas tomando um cafezinho na cozinha ou em nossas chamadas de vídeo, ela me conta mais uma - e segue contando, porque esta fortaleza em pessoa segue firme, cheia de fé e com um senso de humor e perspicácia para poucos nesta vida. Na minha última ida ao Brasil - ouvindo mais das suas histórias - tive um grande estalo, voltei das férias com um fogo no coração me dizendo que eu tinha que fazer algo sobre as histórias dela. Fiquei por semanas sem saber muito bem o que faria, mas pensava nisto o tempo todo - e agora, olhar pra isto que foi tão genuíno e ver que parte da história dela está retratada na minha ilustração instalada nesta exposição, não tem preço. Eu vou guardar isto na memória pelo resto da vida e vou contar esta história para os meus netos daqui umas décadas.

A exposição Here & Now está aberta ao público até o dia 16 de Fevereiro de 2025 na galeria 1 - de 10 às 4pm todos os dias, estrada gratuito. Convido a todos que estiverem em Gold Coast que vão até lá conferir - a exposição está maravilhosa com trabalhos de 42 incríveis artistas locais.
